Exercising without special equipment .....
 


It is obvious that weights and other forms of fitness equipment are very useful however, it is not absolutely necessary to own or have access to any fitness equipment to get results.  With just a few items found in any house, it is possible to give the body a complete and thorough workout.  Training without special equipment is especially useful when travelling on business or on holiday.

Some everyday items can be adapted and applied to provide resistance training.  Items such as:

  • Bath towel
  • Rope
  • Pole
  • Sacks
  • Sand

For example, to perform a bicep curl with a bath towel:

    • Stand upright slightly away from a wall
    • Raise one leg to 90 degrees and pass a towl behind the knee 
    • Grip the towel at each end by each hand
    • Lean slightly back against the wall for stability
    • Perform curls as you would with a barbell - the raised leg offers the resistance via the towel to the arms.
